Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade Celebrates 26th Annual Business Excellence Awards

AJAX/PICKERING, October 22, 2020 – The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade has announced the recipients of the 2020 Business Excellence Awards. The celebration was held virtually on October 22, 2020, and celebrated the resiliency of the local business community.
“This has been a year unlike any other faced by our business community,” said Tracy Paterson, 2020 Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade President and CEO of the Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation. “Despite the many challenges presented by the pandemic, these business leaders have shown incredible dedication and strength. Small business is the backbone of our economy, creating jobs, supporting local charities, and providing critical products and services to our community. On behalf of the Board of Trade, I applaud this year’s winners and nominees.”
The 2020 Business Excellence Award recipients are:

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD: Jim VanDusen (VanDusen Chevrolet Buick GMC)
In addition to the juried awards, the mayors of Ajax and Pickering also recognized leaders in their respective communities. The Town of Ajax Mayor’s Award was presented to Eric Novak, while the City of Pickering Mayor’s Award was presented to Audra Leslie.
As is practice with all signature Board of Trade events, and in support of the social infrastructure of our community, donations were collected on behalf of one of our not-for-profit members. Non-perishable food items were collected on behalf of Simcoe Hall Settlement House.

The Business Excellence Awards were established in 1994 to recognize achievements and excellence in business performance, while the Business Person category was added in 2004. An independent panel of judges evaluates the nominees and all nominees are selected by their business peers.
