2015 APBOT President Denise Jones, CPA, CA presents a policy resolution on the floor of the OCC AGM.
This past weekend, Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade representatives, along with more than 150 delegates representing boards of trade and chambers of commerce from across Ontario gathered for the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) Annual General Meeting. APBOT was represented by 2015 President Denise Jones, CPA, CA of Collins Barrow Durham and 2015 Chair Paul Przybylo of Walker Head Lawyers.
This year, Ajax-Pickering put forward two policy resolutions The first was a sun-setting resolution calling upon the provincial government to use the private and not-for-profit sectors to deliver public services, when it makes sense to do so. The second resolution, which was co-sponsored by APBOT and the Burlington Chamber of Commerce, called upon government to develop a workplace mental health strategy.
Both resolutions were carried when put to a vote on the convention floor.
The leaders of all three leading provincial political parties attended the event and shared a few words with the attendees.
