October 20, 2016 Ajax – There was a buzz in the air at the Ajax Convention Centre on Thursday evening as excited nominees waited anxiously to hear the winners in their respective categories at the 2016 Business Excellence Awards.  The Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade (APBOT) handed out awards in six categories in total and two additional emerging entrepreneur awards were presented by the Town of Ajax and the City of Pickering.

Local businesses were nominated for this prestigious award by their peers among the Ajax-Pickering Board of Trade membership and their submissions were evaluated by a panel of seven external judges.

Since the event took place during Small Business Week this year, it was fitting that Ontario Chamber of Commerce (OCC) President & CEO Allan O’Dette took to the podium to discuss Obstacles and Opportunities: The Importance of Small Business in Ontario, a report released this week as part of the province-wide Small Business Too Big To Ignore initiative.
